Plant-derived vaccine will eliminate polio virus

Scientists have developed a new vaccine against the polio virus using the plant. This discovery will pave the way to eradicate polio globally.

Scientists have developed a new vaccine against the polio virus using the plant. This discovery will pave the way to eradicate polio globally.

The new vaccine is prepared from virus-like particles (VLPs). Under this, non-pathogenic VLPs from polio virus are grown on the plant.

Under this, genes carrying information of VLP production get entrapped in plant tissue. After this, the host plant produces more of it. In this, he uses his own protein expression mechanism.

Professor George Lomonosof of the John Inns Center, a UK-based independent research organization, said it is an incredible partnership of plant science, animal virology and structural biology. The question for us now is how to increase it. We do not want to hold it down to laboratory technology.
